The Southeast Event Centre is an 80,000 sq. ft. multi-use recreation facility in Steinbach designed to support ice sports, recreation, and community events. The facility includes one new and one existing ice surface, with one convertible into a 2,500-seat arena for larger events and tournaments, supported by gym, hall, and flexible community spaces.

Our team provided mechanical and electrical design with a focus on creating a highly adaptable, energy-conscious facility. Innovative air systems were developed to manage both ice arena conditions and high-occupancy event loads, using heat recovery and free cooling to reduce energy use while maintaining consistent performance year-round.

A dedicated ice system supports both surfaces and enables heat recovery to be reused across the building, including dressing rooms and support areas.

Electrical systems were consolidated into a single integrated infrastructure, improving reliability, reducing maintenance, and lowering long-term operating costs. Energy modelling informed key design decisions to optimize efficiency and operational flexibility across all facility uses.
