The Kinosew Sipi Nanatawiwekamik Health Centre of Excellence, located 456 km north of Winnipeg along the east channel of the Nelson River, faces unique challenges due to its remote setting. Despite these obstacles, the facility was designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services for the community, addressing needs from birth to the end of life.

Spanning over 100,000 sq ft, the centre includes a variety of essential spaces, such as a surgical suite, sweat lodge, maintenance garage, and professional accommodations, all tailored to serve the community effectively.

Our team was responsible for the mechanical and electrical design, as well as contract administration services, managing the complexities of HVAC systems, ventilation, plumbing, architectural lighting, power (both normal and emergency), and telecommunication infrastructure. Despite the logistical challenges posed by the location, we ensured that the facility met the highest standards of functionality, efficiency, and sustainability.

To bridge the geographical gap, fibre optic-based telecommunication services were integrated, enabling seamless communication and improving access to specialized healthcare resources, while fostering community connectivity.
