Health Sciences Centre

Winnipeg, MB

The Critical Services Redevelopment Project was commissioned in 1997 to relocate Adult and Pediatric Critical Care Services from various older buildings and consolidate these services within a brand new, state of the art facility.

The new Ann Thomas Building was completed and occupied in spring 2007. Within its 286,000 sq. ft. of new space it includes Adult and Pediatric Emergency Rooms with Trauma Operating Room, Adult and Pediatric Operating Rooms (20), Adult and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, Radiology Procedure Rooms, Burns Unit, Isolation Rooms, Sterile Processing (CPD) and a new Ambulance Garage.

The new building is located adjacent to and interconnected with various existing HSC buildings.

SMS provided full mechanical and electrical design and contract administration services through Smith Carter, the project architects.
